News: J. Tillman Leaves Fleet Foxes

Last night it was announced that Fleet Foxes drummer J. Tillman is set to leave the band, following their upcoming gigs in Japan.

This follows the recent news that Foxes members Christian Wargo and Casey Wescott have been signed to Sub Pop and Bella Union respectively, under their new band Poor Moon. The Fleet Foxes pair, alongside Ian and Peter Murray of Christmas Cards fame, are set to release their debut EP Illusion in early spring.

It is doubtful that J. Tillman’s leaving and Wargo and Wescott’s new project will result in any drastic changes to Fleet Foxes, however it seems in Tillman’s case that it’s all over for him, for now…..

“Farewell Fleet Fans and Friends. Back into the gaping maw of obscurity I go. Tokyo is my last show with the Foxes. Sorry if I was distant and obtuse if we ever met. Have fun.”

J. Tillman’s next EP is due on May 1st, under the moniker Father John Misty
