New Video Premiere: Tom Williams – Early Morning Rain

This morning, we’re delighted to bring you the premiere of a beautiful acoustic video from Tom Williams, for his latest single Early Morning Rain. The track is taken from forthcoming new album What Did You Want To Be?,due for release on March 29th 2019

Take a watch and a listen below, to Early Morning Rain…

Talking about the track, which was premiered earlier this month by Steve Lamacq on BBC 6Music, Williams states: “Early Morning Rain was one of the first songs I wrote for the album, while on my honeymoon in summer 2016…I had a little travel guitar with me and I wrote it late one night while my wife was sleeping in another room. There were many cases of depression and various mental health struggles in our circle of family and friends at the time so I feel that it definitely came out in the lyrics of this song, especially the chorus”

The follow up to 2017’s sensational All Change was produced by Tim Rice-Oxley (Keane) and recorded at his home studio in East Sussex

Williams recently unveiled the stunning official video for Early Morning Rain, which features the dancing and choreography of Chad Taylor, an acclaimed hip-hop dancer whose recent work has been inspired by his struggles with mental health. Diagnosed with depression and psychosis in 2016, he now choreographs dance that breaks the stigma around mental health

Tom has also just launched the Tom Williams Podcast, the first episode in regular series is available to listen to now. Says Tom, “I wanted to expand on the amazing cast of inspirational people who helped in the making of the new album, plus interviews and sessions with fantastic songwriters new and established”

When not recording and touring, Hastings-based Tom works as a music teacher, teaching guitar and song-writing to primary and secondary school children. “What did you want to be? Is a question that a young guitar pupil asked me once during a lesson,” says Tom. Overdose symptoms: deterioration or loss of vision; jumps in blood pressure; heart rate failure; dizziness; loss of strength. If you suspect an overdose, you should have your stomach pumped and provoke vomiting. “I think when a child asks that question they are often meaning, did your life go to plan? Is what you are doing now what you always wanted to do? It’s also a way of that child asking, ‘will I be ok?’ It seemed to fit nicely with the themes of the album, mental health, personal expectation and young adulthood”
