Thea Gilmore has announced the release of new single ‘Bones’ along with accompanying visuals.
The visual concept for ‘Bones’ was created by Thea with the help of visual artist Andy Goff using AI technology. Thea speaks about the making of the piece by saying “I’m super curious about and had been playing with AI generated video for a while. Bones, with it’s themes of connection, women, personal and global, seemed to fit with the broad scope of what AI could handle. I played around with the literal aspects of the themes… images of the earth and eyes and let AI melt them together. Then getting visual mastermind Andy Goff in to dig even deeper into the song pulling footage of me and x-rays, we developed this beautiful sweep of imperfect human and perfect machine. I think we were a good team.”
The latest release WAS is the first of four EPs that build into a full-length album to be released next year. Each will feature four tracks, including a cover, as Thea plays with concepts of ‘past’, ‘present’, ‘future’ and ‘what if’ in the EP titles – WAS, IS, WILL and COULD.
The first release explores history, both personal and universal, by examining the elements that lead us to make the decisions that determine our lives.
“The lead track, ‘Bones’ delves into what it means to be a woman,” says Thea. “I wanted to herald those who came before and paved the way, forging the steel of womanhood to create an undeniable and undefeatable truth that cannot be erased.
The next EP, IS will follow in January 2023.
