New Release, Video & Tour: Matt Corby – Rainbow Valley / All Fired Up

Following the release of first single No Ordinary Life in August, Matt Corby has announced the release of his long-awaited second album, Rainbow Valley, with new song All Fired Up and tour dates for the UK and Europe

The bare-bones ballad talks of struggle from the outside, draping the stark, aching admission, “when you break, I break”, over an understated piano arrangement. Matt has also released a live video performing this track as a one-take version on the piano, filmed on the lawn of his home studio in Northern NSW…

Recorded in the idyllic surroundings of Byron Bay’s Music Farm studios, Rainbow Valley follows acclaimed 2016 debut album, Telluric, and traces Corby’s journey into fatherhood. “When I found out I was going to be a father, it helped me get my head together,” Corby explains. “And as part of that, I was able to set aside a lot of weird hang ups I used to have, personally and selfishly, about making music. So, when it came to writing, I found I could be less stubborn, more open minded to going in new musical directions”

As he had with Telluric, Corby once again enlisted the help of producer Dann Hume and engineer Matthew Neighbour. Everything else, he took care of himself. “I play and sing every part on the album, again,” he says. “Working like that meant we could really develop ideas quickly – when I want it to feel a certain way, I know five things I can do on six instruments that could potentially create that, and so we just go through them all”

Rainbow Valley is released on November 2nd via Atlantic Records
