Hailing from Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, songwriter Jennah Barry is today sharing the video for her new track, ‘Big Universe’. The new video is the latest to be lifted from her forthcoming nine-track sophomore album, Holiday which is set for release on March 27, 2020.

Featuring the production work of Barry’s musical and personal partner, Colin Nealis (prev. Andy Shauf, Aidan Knight), ‘Big Universe’ plays on the new album’s wider themes: the meditations on – and curiosities with – life that come to fruition when one has time on their hands to ponder.

Take a listen below…

Holiday manifested throughout a period when Barry was recovering from vocal surgery – an event that halted her career back in 2015. A testament to this, the album is largely informed by the mundanity of everyday life, a carousel of existence spiked occasionally with big events such as vocal surgery, or the birth of a child.

The truth is – alongside the aforementioned health reasons – Barry simply needed the time to craft the album fully. “I make Grand Canyons in my brain I can’t escape,” she says. “The only time I can write about it is when I find a way out. The whole record is about ruminating.” With ‘Big Universe’, she explores her search for a higher power, such as with horoscopes: “I needed to know what to do. I’ve always experimented with my spirituality.”

Barry has also announced a number of UK live dates…

May 10 | Glasgow, Broadcast
May 12 | Durham, Old Cinema Launderette
May 13 | Manchester, Castle Hotel
