Nashville-based singer-songwriter Liza Anne has been busy since the release of her 2018 album Fine But Dying. After making her late-night television debut on CONAN, supporting Ray LaMontagne on a sold out theatre tour, and being hand-picked by Kacey Musgraves to support on select tour dates, Liza hit the studio with producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen (M83, Tegan & Sara, Paramore) to begin work on her forthcoming 2020 album.
‘Devotion’, the new single to be released ahead of Liza’s autumn tour with Lucy Dacus, is a raucous indie rock anthem about being set free after a break up.

Inspired by Patti Smith’s short story of the same name, the song was written in 10-minutes and, in that moment, offered Liza the clarity to end the relationship and re-discover herself. “This song is my fight for myself,” says Liza. In the chorus, as if summoning the Spirit of Failed Relationships, with lungs full Liza belts to the sky: “Devotion! Return to me who I was before I was in love!”
