New Release & Video: Jamie Sutherland – Bruise / When We’re Alone

Renowned for his work as the leader of Scottish band Broken Records, Jamie Sutherland has broken out on his own to produce his first solo debut, Bruise, to be released in 2019

Taken from the record, new single and video When We’re Alone captures the ennui of a breakup, and the sense of disillusionment that follows. In his own words Jamie tell us it’s “a song about realisation, that a time and relationship is over, the places you go to acknowledge that, and the loneliness of starting again”

Sparse folk stylings and delicate piano melodies are contrasted with Jamie’s powerful, vulnerable vocal. Opening line ‘there’s a mirror, pointed straight at me’ sums up the introspective feel of the track succinctly – take a listen below…

The song was recorded at the Happiness Hotel, Edinburgh by Neil Pennycook and features a band made up of members of Broken Records, Meursault, Withered Hand, Eagleowl, Stanley Odd & Siobhan Wilson
