New Release: The Band – The Last Waltz: 40th Anniversary Reissue

The Band have announced that they are set to release a 40th anniversary reissue,
of their sensational final performance on Thanksgiving Day in 1976

Seen to many as one of the greatest shows in history, the performance at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco saw a final coming together of The Band members Levon Helm, Rick Danko, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel and Robbie Robertson, as well as some incredible guests, including Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Emmylou Harris, Dr. John, Muddy Waters, Ronnie Wood and Neil Diamond

What’s more, the show was filmed by legendary-director Martin Scorsese, and released in 1978

Rhino Records is now set to reissue the performance, through four deluxe options…details below:

The first set will feature the original soundtrack
with newly remastered audio from the original master tapes on two CDs

The second set will include the complete audio from the concert on 4 CDs,
including rehearsals and outtakes, plus The Last Waltz film on Blu-Ray

The third set features the complete audio from the concert, including rehearsals and outtakes,
pressed on 6 180-gram vinyls for the first time, and presented in an ornate lift-top box

And finally, the collector’s-edition fourth set, limited to 2,500 copies only, includes the complete audio from the concert over 4 CDs, The Last Waltz film on Blu-Ray, a second Blu-Ray disc including a rarely seen interview from the 1990s with Martin Scorsese and Robbie Robertson, a photo gallery, and 5.1 audio mix of the original album, plus a special 300-page book, bound in red faux-leather with a full replication of Scorsese’s shooting script, rare and previously unseen photos, set sketches, three foldout storyboards, and a foreword by Scorsese
