After gaining attention with the release of his debut EP last month, London singer-songwriter Ben Shaw finishes off 2019 with the release of EP title track ‘Alive’ as a new single today, which we are delighted to be premiering.
The rootsy and quietly anthemic new song highlights his classic pop songwriting roots alongside slow-burning acoustic guitars and builds to an emotive climax.

“Alive is all about the fear you feel when really falling for someone but being frightened to tell them,” explains Ben on the new track. “Being scared they don’t feel the same way and that they’ll leave if they knew. It’s trying to document that kind of burning love where one person has really helped the other out of a bad place and so the stakes are high. But eventually you can end up pushing https://www.rossitchpediatricdentistry.com/buy-depakote-online/ them away being cold, and they never know just how much they meant to you. At the same time, if they want to leave – you’re too in love to stop what they want, so it’s a catch 22. I got the ideas/feelings for this from several different relationships and partners that’ve really helped me, but I shut off emotionally. It’s almost an admission/apology in that sense.”
With his debut EP produced by Brett Shaw (of Florence & The Machine and Foals fame) and recorded at London’s 123 Studios, the Alive EP is a strong opening statement from an artist only just getting started and offers up four examples of polished songwriting craft from a talented new musician.
