New Release: Christof Van Der Ven – Beneath The Ordinary Load / Cut The Ribbon

Holland born Christof van der Ven has announced the release of a new EP entitled Beneath The Ordinary Load, along with new single Cut The Ribbon

The track was written for his friend Martijn, with the lead hook standing as an inspirational message of belief: “You’re not giving in / she’s not giving up on you / I’m not giving up / I’m not giving up on you too”. Speaking on the track release, Christof said: “My dear friend Martijn had an operation on his heart last year and struggled mentally for a while. This one is for him”

Produced by Marcus Hamblett (Villagers, James Holden, Bear’s Den), Cut The Ribbon and the Beneath The Ordinary Road EP (released March 1st) also features instrumentation contributions from his good friends, Thomas Heap (Matthew and the Atlas), Jools Owen (Bear’s Den), Thomas Sheen and Emma Gatrill (This Is The Kit, Rachael Dadd)

“These songs carry an emotional weight.” Christof says. “A weight that each and one of us carries with us but can’t see with the naked eye. I would love if these songs comfort people and help them to open themselves up to others in times of doubt and sorrow, to show us what is Beneath the Ordinary Load”

Alongside the new single, Christof will also be playing songs from the forthcoming EP at the following dates in March…
