After unveiling the Maisie Peters collaboration ‘A Good Love Pt.2’ earlier this month, Bear’s Den – made up of Andrew Davie and Kevin Jones – continue the support for their soundtrack for season three of the Apple TV series ‘Trying’, by delivering the beautifully upbeat effort ‘Please Don’t Hide Yourself Away’ ft. Jade Bird.

Unlike the leading single ‘A Good Love Pt.2’, which highlighted the more sombre moments on their upcoming release, ‘Please Don’t Hide Yourself Away’ sees the duo in renewed spirits as they unveil a more uplifting delight. Assisted perfectly by Jade Bird’s instantly recognisable voice, their latest cut looks to showcase the broad and inventive approach they took to this new soundtrack, delivering a light and joyous example in the process.

Speaking about ‘Please Don’t Hide Yourself Away’, Bear’s Den said, “The funnest part of making this soundtrack has been the opportunity to reach out and collaborate with other artists and musicians whose music we absolutely love. Today, we’re really excited to be releasing ‘Please Don’t Hide Yourself Away’ featuring the absolutely incredible Jade Bird whose songs we adore and who we’ve always wanted to work with. It’s been a real dream for us and to be honest we enjoyed working with Jade so much, we worked on two songs for this soundtrack together. Here is the first of the two and it’s called ‘Please Don’t Hide Yourself Away’.

While Jade Bird added, “Ask anyone and they’ll tell you the same – watching music come alive in a great story is one of the most rewarding things you can be a part of as an artist; so it was a real privilege to be asked by Bear’s Den to play a role in two of the songs that would become a part of season 3 of ‘Trying’. ‘Please Don’t Hide Yourself Away’ was the first one we worked on together, and I can’t wait for you to hear it.”

Unlike Bear’s Den’s usual oeuvre, the soundtrack was written to spec with Andrew Davie writing new original songs to tie in with the storyline of each episode’s theme and narrative, working closely with the creator Andy Walton and directors Jim O’Hanlon (“Catastrophe,” “Marvel’s The Punisher”) and Elliot Hegarty (“Ted Lasso”). Alongside the collaboration with Maisie Peters – who created the soundtrack for ‘Trying’ series two – the soundtrack, which will be available from series launch on July 22nd, will feature not one but two guest appearances from Jade Bird, a collaboration with Monica Martin and sees the band team up once again with Sally Herbert (string arrangements) and Ian Grimble (on production).
