Alessi’s Ark have released a brand new single ‘Born Free’ with Babywoman Records. This electric guitar driven ballad comes from Alessi and Ark member Jason Santos.

Alessi’s understated vocal take the lead on ‘Born Free’, accompanied by a warm, lo-fi guitar strum lending itself to a song which begs for you to pay attention to the message. Sung tenderly, ‘Born Free’ immediately invites you into the diary entry-like feel to this song, with warm swells coming and going as the song progresses.

Take a listen below…

Alessi’s Ark is primarily a woman, seeking inspiration from glimmers of life which many of us never seem to take notice of. There is always a purity to Alessi’s songwriting which stands apart and this honest tale of humanity and freedom yearns to be heard.

In her own words… “Writing ‘Born Free’ felt like a diary entry at the time. It was a very difficult season for everyone I knew and loved. While my family and friends were immensely supportive, I felt overcome by fear and had let it take a tight firm grip on me. In December, faith found me in a deeper and more profound way than I could have ever hoped or envisioned. One year on from that season now feels like a lifetime. Life continues to astound me. When I listen to ‘Born Free’ now, the lyrics feel like a premonition… sometimes we must prune back the rose tree of our life, to let some branches go and new ones grow, whether it’s relationships, dreams, beliefs, goals etc. We aren’t to know. Faith is a seed that needs time, dedication, love, hope, courage and attention, in equal measure”.

It’s been a gradual burning, shimmering process for the remarkable Alessi’s Ark. A name and cinematic voice which has been built upon years of experimentation, travel, resilience and triumph. Alessi has since toured extensively in the UK, Europe, US and Japan in support of her releases with M.Ward, Jenny Lewis, Mumford & Sons, Laura Marling, Sharon Van Etten and John Grant, amongst others.

Alessi’s Ark play The Harrison, London on November 30th
