Latitude Festival is here!
Heading into its 9th year, the Suffolk based event has often been noted as one of the finest festivals that Blighty has to offer, and proudly boasts a hugely diverse lineup, taking place across 17 stages. What’s more, 11 of these stages exhibit much more than just live music; ranging from comedy, to theatre, to politics, to literature. It has rightly deserved its many previous awards and we suspect the Latitude organisers will be adding a few more to their cabinet this year!
We’ll get into the music side of things very shortly, but firstly,
here are our other recommendations for this year’s festival…
Arrive early and head down to the lake – Bruno Schnebelin’s water parade takes place on Thursday night, bringing Dali-esque horses, jousting knights on petals, a flaming apocalyptic angel and a giant gliding Lady of the Lake. Titled Le Rêve à Travers la Porte, Schnebelin and Ilotopie’s theatrical performance is not to be missed!
Go have a laugh – Latitude is famous for its exceptional comedy lineup, and this year is no different. The Comedy Tent is set to welcome the likes of Josh Widdicombe, Seann Walsh, Dara O’Briain, Tim Key, Henning Wehn, Katherine Ryan, Rob Beckett, Josie Long and two particular favourites, Kevin Bridges and Simon Amstell…not bad eh!
Wander into the woods – Hidden in Henham Park’s woods this weekend will be a whole host of glorious surprises; including secret piano performers, late-night raves with amazing DJ’s, a cheeky game of Indeedy Musical Bingo, hidden bars and lots of great activities for the kids.
Go see a show – And talking of kids, how often do yours get the opportunity to take a gondola ride and run around a field designed just for them in the morning, have a pony ride and go watch some wonderful theatre in The Little House at lunchtime, learn a new dance in Pandora’s Playground, play musical instruments made of food and watch the ballet in the afternoon, and chill with a multi-coloured sheep as you gaze at the lake view sunset. Latitude caters for everyone and opens the doors to many events that your kid might never usually get to witness!
Eat – Latitude Festival also provides an enormous range of tasty bites across the site, so we suggest leaving all those crummy pot noodles and dry breakfast bars at home, and trying as many delicious foods as you can! Grab eggs benedict for brekkie, a chorizo and halloumi burger with an avocado and asparagus salad for lunch, some yummy frozen yoghurt as an afternoon snack and a stonebaked pizza for tea…oof, how delicious!
NOW! Let’s get onto the music…
